The sun was in and out all afternoon but still a great day at Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival today. We ended up bringing home more than I expected. Shout out to Alex at @analog.artworks for a discussion of screen printing techniques and success in their field.

On my Journey of Discovery genealogical tour this week, I stopped by the gorgeous @thomasbalchlibrary in Leesburg. They have an incredible set of reference books available to look through. Germans to America, Lists of Passengers Arriving at US Ports is an amazingly comprehensive accumulation of records in table format. And the staff were incredible, so helpful.

Sleuthing around on the inter webs today and I thought I would search for any info on my grandfather. There he is, the House Manager of Phi Delta Chi, taken from the 1937 Blue and Gold Apothecary annual, University of California College of Pharmacy Medical Center. He and my grandmother later ran Hilbig’s Pharmacy in San Bernardino CA for years. They were retired by the time I knew them.

1880 Census with my Great Grandfather Paul Hilbig and his brother Herman listed. A little hard to find as they were listed under their stepfather Charles Boening, but that explains how they immigrated to the US when he was 4. I still haven’t found the record of the ship they came over on but we are getting closer!

It’s Spring! Apparently non-domesticated plastic bags will rest in the upper branches as they migrate through our area.
